Quit Folking with me.

I disagree, that the word folks is safe. It's not ok with me, it doesn't go straight to my heart. Of course it's fine when someone from the South is saying it, where it sounds like a natural word they use because they always have. Even then it doesn't go to my heart, I just recognize it as a dialectical difference. Otherwise, I am just so sick of hearing the word,'folks'. It is not warmer than 'people'. There is nothing wrong with the word 'people' And I feel like all of these politicians and other f$%# are just using the word to manipulate me into some camaraderie. Everytime I hear it coming out of the mouth of someone, who I can just tell did not grow up in Texas or the south, it makes me cringe. And I have a really hard time not shutting down from anything else they're saying. I really wish people would just speak honestly, straightforward naturally, rather than in some effort to appeal, manipulate, relate or cajole. When people use words like this or talk in some forced unnatural feeling manner, I feel that they are trying to sell me something. And isn't that what most politicians are trying to do. I sort of expect it from them. I just don't know why all the social justice and activist peops feel the need to do it as well. I think the answer to you're headline is correct, yes they are folking with us, anyone who starts using that word, because they think it sounds warmer, is f*$#ing with us. There is absolutely no reason, to say the word, people, is cold.
Y'all I don't feel as bothered by, because there isn't a really good way to pluralize you. You all said very separately can sound kind of sterile. And I think 'y'all' is more of a contraction and the use of 'y'alls' and 'y'allses' is a lot more widespread culturally than 'folks'.

Here's a point  made by a reddit user that I agree with...

Lately, I hate the word 'folks'

It's so affected. It's functionally no different from saying 'people,' but it has a connotation that paints whatever group they're talking about in a down-home, good-natured, endearingly infantile way. It's basically 'aw shucks, aren't X folks so dang adorable/sympathetic? What a monster you are for disagreeing with them :(' without actually saying it. It's subtle persuasion with no substance.
It was common in the vernacular for older generations and I'm not so immediately off-put by when they say it. I could even get a deep south native saying it. But younger-generation people (teens to mid-twenties) are trying to make a point without actually making it outright. Not a
HUGE deal but the way the word is used bothers me lately. Just say people, damn!!

More thoughts on UBI in relation to RBE...

Here are some thoughts I had upon thinking about certain Resource Based Economy (RBE)advocates who knock Universal Basic Income (UBI)... these are not entirely coherent and they start out as a response to an RBE organizer who was lamenting the struggle of trying to organize volunteers and get things done . So I decided she didn't really deserve to be onslaught by me, off on a tear. But her thoughts got me thinking about some of the reasons why volunteer efforts can run into road blocks and be difficult to pull together and it got me thinking about RBE people who are anti UBI so I figured I should start just gathering my thoughts together here.

yes it certainly is a conundrum how to rally volunteers when so many are having a hard time financially and feeling the steel paralyzing grip of poverty.  I myself have only recently gotten my head above water upon securing a steady part time job after years of  unemployment or not having a regular job, losing custody of my kid and literally scraping and relying on the kindness of others, begging, borrowing, what have you to get by. I can sure say i had little tolerance for 'volunteering' especially when i would be asked to do so, by people who never seemed to feel an ounce of real struggle in their lives.

So i certainly get how hard it would be to find enough committed and serious volunteers, so that no one or a few volunteers starts to feel too burdened. This is precisely the reason that while i fully support and advocate for a resource based economy and money free society. I also fully advocate for a Universal Basic Income (UBI) in transition to that end. I have read some very insensitive comments from RBE supporters against UBI basically saying people need to feel the pinch or suffer in order to fully see the need for an RBE or something along those lines and, that, as a person who has felt well more than a pinch, and done a certain amount of suffering, frankly just really appalls me.

I honestly feel like that attitude is no better than the capitalist who thinks the common man is just not focused or smart enough to succeed ... I mean isn't that literally the same thing. Without struggle they'll have no impetus to change, that is what the capitalists say and that is what they use an argument against an RBE. So how in good conscience can an RBE advocate use the same damn argument against UBI. Its big daddy bullshit, trying to tell people what they need to experience and how... in order to see the light. Egad.

It is like the religious cleric who feels the common man is not worthy nor capable of creating his own enlightenment and ideology. It is no better than the penal system that would punish rather than educate. And it frankly will not work as is proven by Maslow's hierarchy of needs and countless studies on what motivates people. Yea, there are proven cases where struggle and suffering has motivated people but there are ....

On Gubment, Corporations and what not

Robert Stone: Big, wealthy companies that can afford to hide behind phalanxes of rich, corporate lawyers and creative (ie. corrupt) accountancy practices seldom see any, "percentage", whatsoever in doing the right thing. Therefore it seems to me that the correct answer is to REMOVE LEGAL INCORPORATION as well as the DISPROPORTIONAL ACCUMULATION OF WEALTH from the social, economic and legal pictures..... as this is the ONLY WAY to cause big companies to 1) stop using their wealth to pervert the law in their own favor, and 2) force big companies to protect themselves from liability the only effective way which can remain thereafter, which is to say that they will not be able to hide behind their corporate charter, non-existent, "shareholder obligations", and phalanxes of rich corporate lawyers and creative accountancy practices having engaged in risky-to-deadly business, "opportunities", WHICH THEY WOULD NOT HAVE ENGAGED IN WITH THEIR OWN PERSONAL FAT POTENTIALLY IN THE FIRE!! We are in the face of a world wide epidemic of losing our clean water. And these companies are getting away with polluting water all around the world. They are mining the earths minerals and making the earth sick. Along with humans. They pollute our food with pesticides and GMOs and people are getting sick. there are far more diseases now then there ever was in history. These CEO's and investors of these companies are getting fat with riches while poverty and starvation is an epidemic problem. The truth is that most people have put too much faith into these companies and their governments to do the right thing, and sadly those companies and government do not do the right thing. One of the biggest lies is that we need jobs to survive. So here is how they break a society and brainwash the citizens. First take away their food source and control it. which they have done, taint their food source with chemicals to make them sick, over fund companies that make toxic pharmaceuticals, over invest in technology to keep the citizens occupied with their awesome gadgets which has worked 100% in getting the results needed to keep people in a state of believing that we need to move forward into the future as fast as possible. People have become far too comfortable with their Greed and so called advancement that societies can no longer maintain, which is why we have so many problems in society with drugs and crime. The powers that be have successfully brainwashed billions of people. So while the fat cats get rich the rest of the world suffers. So exactly how does Capitalism benefit the citizens of the world? The whole purpose of the governments is assure security of all citizens of their perspective countries, but we see far too much them protecting big companies over the people. So how is that beneficial to our society?
